Hey everyone,
I can't stop thinking about the ripple effect this tragedy has had on the families involved, especially the Harrisons and Fowlers, as well as the entire Milwaukee community. It's one thing to read about statistics and headlines on gun violence, but when you think about the empty seats at their family tables, it feels so personal and devastating. I can only imagine the grief that William and Javarius' families are going through every single day.
I also keep coming back to the impact on the young kids involved. Robert D. Johnson, just 14 at the time, has lost a huge portion of his life as well. It's hard to grapple with the idea that these young teens, who should be thinking about school and sports, found themselves in such a life-altering situation. It's a wake-up call about how crucial it is to have conversations with our youth about conflict resolution and the very real, life-long consequences of using weapons.
Sending my thoughts to all the families and hoping Milwaukee can find some healing and prevention measures. We must do better for our kids.
It's incredibly unnerving to consider the entire chain of events that led to the deaths of William Harrison Jr. and Javarius D. Fowler. I can't imagine what their families are going through. They lost their kids to an argument that spiraled out of control in a matter of moments. What haunts me the most is the idea of how easily this situation could have been avoided if conflicts were addressed differently. Robert D. Johnson, who was just a child himself, will now spend years behind bars. There are no winners in this scenario, only tragedy all around. This situation really underscores an urgent need for us as a community to foster environments where young people don't resort to violence. How can we do better to protect our youth and prevent future incidents from occurring?
