It’s incredibly disturbing to think about how personal vendettas can escalate into such violent acts. I can’t help but feel heartache for Judge Roemer’s family and the entire New Lisbon community that’s now trying to process this senseless act. The fact that Uhde had a hit list with such high-profile names is shocking and frustrating. It makes you wonder what kind of security measures are in place to protect public servants from individuals with such deep-seated grudges. I hope this tragic event prompts a serious reevaluation of how threats against our judges and officials are assessed and addressed. Roemer’s legacy as a devoted judge should not be overshadowed by this crime, and his commitment to justice should inspire measures to better protect those who dedicate their lives to the public service. Thinking of his loved ones during this incredibly tough time.
