Hey everyone, I've been reading through some old articles and discussions about the rise in gun violence in Chicago back in 2012, and I found myself thinking about George Dunn. It's so devastating to hear about young lives being cut short. I can't even begin to imagine what his family and friends went through. This was a time when Chicago was really struggling with gun violence, especially in neighborhoods like Gresham. One thing that really stands out to me is the way these systemic issues, like poverty and lack of opportunities, seem to feed into the cycle of violence. It feels like the city was up against such tough odds trying to bring about change. Even with all the efforts at the time, the underlying problems just made it feel like an uphill battle. I'm curious about what more could have been done back then, or what can still be done now to prevent these tragedies. What kind of community programs or interventions have worked in other places? Would love to hear any thoughts or insights.
