I recently came across some documents about the Patrick Alan Oliver case, and one thing that really caught my attention was the defensive wounds both Patrick and Susan had. It just breaks my heart to think about the fear and bravery they must have experienced in those last moments, trying to protect themselves from such a horrific attack. It's horrifying to see how they were just enjoying a picnic and then found themselves in such a terrifying situation. What’s more haunting is pondering the ‘what-ifs.' What if they had left the picnic earlier, or what if Yates hadn't been out there hunting that day? These small decisions in life sometimes play such pivotal roles in the course of events. It’s a grim reminder of how unpredictable life can be and how we never really know what lies around the corner. My thoughts are with the families and friends of Patrick and Susan, who had to endure years of unanswered questions and devastating loss. Let's hope that sharing these stories can lead to more awareness and vigilance in preventing such tragedies.

Does anyone have more information on what led Robert Lee Yates Jr. to start his killing spree? It's baffling and really sad that someone with a history of violence was able to evade capture for so long. I read that Patrick Alan Oliver and Susan Savage were his first known victims, and it breaks my heart thinking about how bright their futures were. Patrick was an honor-roll student, and by all accounts, Susan was brilliant too. I can't imagine the pain their families felt during those decades of uncertainty. Were there any missed warnings or red flags about Yates before the murders in 1975? Any insight or theories would be appreciated. The more we understand about these tragic events, the better we can hopefully prevent such losses in the future.

Has anyone else been thinking about the initial theories that the authorities had when Patrick Oliver and Susan Savage were murdered? It’s so surreal how they went from thinking it might have been a robbery or a professional hit to uncovering a connection to a serial killer over two decades later. The way they were so sadly hidden under a tire and brush really gets to me. It's horrifying to imagine what they went through. I can't help but feel for their loved ones who had to live without answers for so long. It's scary to consider how someone could carry out such violence and continue on unchecked for years. If anyone has any thoughts on how these initial missteps could have been avoided, I'd be really interested to hear them. Justice is crucial, but sometimes it feels like too little, too late for the victims and their families.
