Has anyone ever looked deeper into the connection between the "Tube Sock Killings" and the earlier murders of Edward Smith and Kimberly Diane La Vine? I find it chilling how similar the circumstances are, not just in timing but in the brutal, execution-style killings of both couples. It seems like the theories at the time focused heavily on a possible link, but did they ever uncover any strong evidence? It must be incredibly agonizing for the families to have no answers even after all these years. I really hope, for everyone's sake, that further investigation will somehow provide the answers these families need and deserve. If anyone has info or theories, I'd love to hear what you've uncovered. These cases stick with you and make you really wish for some sense of closure for everyone touched by this awful situation.
Hi everyone,
I’ve been following the case of Steven Harkins and Ruth Cooper, and it just doesn't get any easier to think about. One aspect of the case that really stands out to me is the involvement of their dog. It’s devastating to think about the cold-blooded nature of this crime—targeting not just Steven and Ruth but their pet as well. It makes you wonder about the kind of person capable of such brutality.
The fact that Harkins was murdered while still in his sleeping bag says so much about the kind of callousness involved, but the killer's attention to also harming their dog is an added layer that’s so unsettling. I can’t imagine the fear and confusion Ruth must have felt, possibly waking up to this nightmare. Her family and friends must feel some comfort knowing her remains were found, but it's horribly unjust that they, alongside Steven’s loved ones, still don't have closure.
Has anyone come across any similar cases where a pet was also killed? I'm curious because it might provide some insight into the mind of the murderer or if this is more common in serial offenses. My heart truly goes out to both families affected, and I hope for breakthroughs with new DNA technologies or someone coming forward with information. Imagine holding onto hope for so many years—it’s incredibly commendable and must be exhausting. ?
Are there any updates or new documentaries that might have touched on this case in the past few years? I feel like every piece of information helps keep it alive in people's minds.
Let’s keep the conversation going. Every bit of awareness might inch us closer to answers.
Peace to all,

Hey everyone,
I’ve been reading about the tragic case of Steven Harkins and Ruth Cooper, and I came across a detail that is particularly haunting. It’s been noted that the couple's dog was found shot near Steven's body. As someone who loves animals, I can't help but feel deeply for the loss of their beloved companion. I think it’s important to remember that the presence of their dog shows how much love was involved in their lives. To think that no one has been held accountable for this act, which left the couple's families without their loved ones and even took the life of an innocent dog, is incredibly distressing. I can't imagine the pain their families have endured over the years, not just losing Steven and Ruth, but in such a senseless and brutal manner.
Does anyone have thoughts on why the perpetrator would have targeted both the couple and the dog? Could it have been meant as a warning or message? I’m hoping discussing these seemingly small details might help keep the memory of Steven and Ruth alive and maybe spark some new insights.
Sending strength to the loved ones still affected by this case.
