Does anyone else feel that Dr. Brigham and Captain London were incredibly brave for doing their jobs despite such a tragic outcome? It's chilling to think they were just doing what was right, ensuring safety by recommending Mellberg's discharge, and paid the ultimate price for it. The Fairchild shooting brings up so many questions about how mental health evaluations and recommendations are handled within the military. I can't help but wonder if there were missed opportunities to provide Mellberg with the support he clearly needed before it reached such a horrific point. My heart goes out to all the families affected by this senseless violence, and it's reassuring to know that the victims continue to be remembered through memorials. If anyone has any thoughts on improvements in mental health protocols since then, I'd love to hear!
