Hey everyone,

I’ve been really invested in the Dori Cordova case, especially after reading about the shocking way the system failed. Something that’s been weighing on my mind is the role of community centers like the Miller Community Center where the tragedy happened. They’re supposed to be places of safety and community support, right? Yet, something so devastating occurred there. I can’t imagine how the regular patrons feel returning to a place that now carries such grief.

Do you think there could have been any preventative measures, like increased security or better communication between parole officers and community centers, that might have made a difference? It seems crucial that public venues get alerted about nearby individuals with such concerning histories for their own precautions.

Sending thoughts to Dori's family and especially to her kid, Troy. No one should have to grow up without a parent because of something that should have been preventable.
It's deeply disturbing to think about how things could have been different if there had been stricter supervision over Laurence Owens by the DOC. I keep wondering about the breakdown in communication or oversight that allowed such a dangerous individual to walk freely among the public, ultimately leading to this tragedy. Dori and her son deserved better protection from our justice system. It’s vital that we learn from these missteps to prevent future tragedies. My heart goes out to Dori's family and little Troy, who will now have to grow up without his mother. It's a stark reminder that the systems in place to keep us safe need constant scrutiny and improvement.
