I've been reading a lot about the tragic events that happened in Alger back in 2008, and every time I learn more about the people involved, my heart goes out to the community and especially to the friends and family of Chester "Chet" Rose. One thing that stood out to me about Chet was his passion for photography and vintage cars. It's always tough to lose someone who brought so much joy and creativity into the world. I can't help but think of those weekends Chet probably spent tinkering with a classic car or capturing the perfect shot at sunset. It’s such a loss to know that his unique perspective behind the camera lens and his joy for life were stolen like that. I also think about his presence at the Old Edison Inn—hearing the music and dancing, those simple pleasures that make life rich. I hope that through this platform, we can share memories and stories about Chet and continue to highlight the vibrant life he led. To the Rose family and community, your grief is felt deeply by those of us who continue to learn about Chet and what he meant to so many.

Did anyone else hear about the testimony from some of Chet Rose's friends at the memorial service? It's so hard to read about how loved he was by everyone who knew him. Hearing stories about how Chet would always lend a helping hand, whether it was sharing construction advice or taking people on photography trips, just goes to show you what a genuine person he was. The community truly lost a shining light that day. It's heartbreaking to think of the void left by his absence. My thoughts are with his family as they deal with this unfathomable loss. In tragedies like this, it's the memories shared by those left behind that help keep his spirit alive. If anyone has more of those stories, please share them. Remembering the good times can sometimes bring a bit of comfort amidst the grief.

Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about the incredible sense of community Chet Rose seemed to embody. It’s really devastating to think someone so integral to Alger was taken in such a senseless act. I never knew Chet personally, but the more I read about him, the more I feel the void he left behind. Silver Creek Construction helped shape the very landscape of our community, and his passion for his work was evident. I can’t help but wonder about all those dances at the Old Edison Inn – how many lives he touched there, not just with his moves but with his warm smile and laughter. Those places where community congregates will feel so different without his presence. For his family and friends, I hope justice brings some measure of peace, although I know it can't fill the space he left. If anyone has a favorite memory of Chet, maybe from those community gatherings or elsewhere, I’d love to hear them. Sharing keeps his spirit alive, and it’s so important now more than ever. Hoping for healing for everyone impacted.
