I've been following the McNeely case and it’s been weighing heavily on my mind. It makes you reflect on how sometimes the darkest corners of life aren’t as clear-cut as we’d hope. Linda's situation was so tragic with her condition swiftly taking away her independence and dignity. It's so hard to imagine what her family went through during those trying times. What strikes me is how they seemed caught between legal boundaries and their desire to end Linda's suffering. The conversations Donald had with friends and social workers show a man grappling with a decision no one should have to make. I can’t imagine the emotional toll this has taken on their daughter too. It’s a reminder of how important it is for families to have conversations about end-of-life wishes well in advance, though who could really predict such a heartbreaking situation? Sending strength to all those who loved Linda.
