Hey everyone, I've been thinking about how tragic and scary it must have been for Jessica Ortega during those last days. What really gets to me is how she went through all the right channels to try to protect herself and her kids. It's upsetting to think that she reached out to the authorities several times, yet it seems like her cries for help weren't fully heard. How can we expect victims of domestic violence to have faith in the system if cases like Jessica's fall through the cracks? It just breaks my heart for her and her family. They deserved better, and so did she. I'm hoping that the settlement brings some sense of relief to her kids, but it makes me wonder what else needs to be done to ensure this doesn't happen again. I'd be interested to hear what others think about how the system can improve to better protect individuals in similar situations.
