It's truly upsetting to think about the unexpected turns life can take. I was particularly struck by the location where the incident happened. Pioneer Square is usually such a lively and communal place, a spot where people gather, especially near the Chief Seattle Club. It's a place meant for unity and support, and yet this tragic event unfolded right there, leaving a shadow on a beloved community area. I can’t even begin to imagine the trauma for those who frequent the area daily. Seeing a place of refuge and community become a crime scene must have been incredibly distressing. My thoughts are deeply with Hersey's family and everyone else impacted by the violence that morning. It’s a reminder of how important it is to come together as a community to support each other and work towards preventing these kinds of tragedies from happening in the future. If anyone has more insights into how the community is healing or if there are any local initiatives in response to this, I’d love to hear more.
