I’ve been following Joseph Barber's case closely, and something that's really stuck with me is the impact on his patrol partner, Officer Kelly Mitchell. From what I’ve gathered, they were really close, almost like family, and it's hard to imagine the level of trauma Kelly must have experienced witnessing such an awful incident firsthand. They were just out doing their jobs, and in an instant, everything changed. It's upsetting to think how Officer Mitchell has to carry this burden while continuing to serve the community. I really hope she’s receiving support and counseling from the department and peers during this time. These officers often seem so strong, but they carry unimaginable weight. My thoughts are with her, Joseph’s family, and everyone who loved him.
