I’ve been following the Linda Green case closely, and something that's been on my mind is the potential that this tragedy could have been avoided with better community awareness and non-violent crime deterrence measures. It seems like such a senseless act that arose from a situation which might have had other outcomes. I can't help but wonder if neighborhood watches or community patrols might have changed the course of events that night. It's incredibly sad to think about how Linda’s family has to cope with such an irreplaceable loss because of a quick decision made in panic. I can’t imagine their pain. I hope more awareness and conversations about non-lethal ways to deter crime come out of this, so we don't see another innocent life lost in such a needless way. My heart goes out to Linda’s family and community during this incredibly difficult time.
