Hey all, I’ve been thinking a lot about the neighborhood where Kenneth Woods was killed and how the community must have been affected not only by his tragic death but the ongoing violence around them at the time. It's truly devastating to consider how these neighborhoods were caught in a cycle of violence, and Kenneth's death seems to symbolize the broader struggles that many faced daily.
I read that Chicago had a massive increase in homicides that year, and it's so disconcerting to know communities were essentially helpless against the surge in gang violence around them. Imagine living in an area where even something as simple as walking down the street could place you in harm's way. It makes me wonder about the long-term impact on the residents’ sense of security and well-being.
Does anyone know what measures—if any—were taken in those neighborhoods after 2012 to address this? Were there any specific community initiatives or reforms that helped people feel safer? Would love to hear insights or stories from those who have lived through similar experiences. My heart goes out to Kenneth’s loved ones and everyone who's been affected by such violence. The scars left by such tragedies are not easily healed.
