I recently came across this case, and it's been weighing heavily on my mind. It's just awful to think about how AJ's family must be feeling right now. Losing someone so young is something no one should ever have to go through. It really struck me when I read that he was only days away from his 14th birthday. I can't help but think about all the milestones he would have reached and celebrated with his loved ones—graduations, birthdays, and achievements that they’ll now never see. One thing that gets me every time is the sound of gunfire that neighbors reported during those early hours. I wonder whether someone out there heard or saw something without realizing it. Situations like this often leave you thinking about what more could be done to help. I might be overthinking it, but little things like community patrols or even an increase in neighborhood awareness might prevent tragedies like this in the future. If anyone in the area has any updates or knows of any community support efforts being organized, please share. I hope they find answers soon; AJ and his family deserve justice.
