Hey all, I've been diving into some reading about the Goebel assassination and came across something pretty interesting—Goebel's personality and how it might have played a role in the events that led to his death. It's often shared that he was a pretty combative figure, staunch in his political beliefs, and this may have added a lot of fuel to the already red-hot political climate. From what I've read, some said Goebel wasn't afraid to make enemies if it meant he could push through what he believed was right. This determination certainly won him both staunch supporters and fierce adversaries. But I wonder, did his unyielding nature ultimately cost him his life? Was the bitterness from those lost battles so intense that violence seemed like a solution to someone? Also, how must his family have felt? Seeing the one you love be criticized so harshly and then eventually seeing him fall victim to an assassination must have been unbearably hard. Anyone else here done a deep dive into Goebel's personality or the social narratives of that time? I'd love to hear your thoughts on how much of his character might have influenced the events that unfolded. Stay safe and keep sleuthing!
