Has anyone else been taken aback by how young Jailer William Vernon Coffey was when he was killed? Just 31 years old, with a wife and a young daughter. It's such a stark reminder of the unpredictability of life and how things can change in an instant. I can't help but think about his family, especially as the holidays were approaching. The whole situation is so tragic, especially since he was just trying to step in when the town marshal was unavailable. It's heartbreaking to imagine how his family must have felt getting that news, knowing he was only doing what he thought was right.
