Has anyone else been struck by how quickly this whole incident escalated? I can't stop thinking about how Deputy Jailer Charles Wentworth was just doing his job, making sure things were running smoothly at the jail, and then, in an instant, everything changed. It’s devastating that someone’s shift could turn so tragic because of a single act of deceit. The fact that the inmate’s girlfriend managed to smuggle a gun into the facility is terrifying. It raises so many questions about how this could happen. My heart goes out to Deputy Wentworth's wife and children. It must be incredibly difficult for them to grapple with how a routine day ended in such a shocking loss. It’s hard to imagine the pain of losing a loved one so suddenly and violently. ?
