I was reading about Jamel Clayton's case, and I can't shake the sadness for his family and friends. I came across an old article mentioning a candlelight vigil that was held for him shortly after his passing. It’s haunting to think of how many families have gathered for similar reasons in North Lawndale, and yet the cycle of violence seems to persist unchecked. I wonder if there could be more community-driven efforts or outreach programs today that might help prevent young lives from being lost to such violence. It feels like the city owes it to Jamel and others like him to ensure their stories lead to change, even if it's just one step at a time. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this tragic loss.
