I came across the Kebbeh brothers' tragic story, and it just hits me how the cycle of violence can shatter a family time and again. It's terrifying to imagine the pain of losing not one but two sons within a few months. What caught my attention is how close-knit the Kebbeh family seems to be, having moved to Chicago from Gambia for a better life, and how devastating these events must be for them. I can't imagine being Muhammed's girlfriend and witnessing such a traumatic event. It’s unfathomable to think that being on your porch at night could end so tragically. The fact that these neighborhoods are so deeply affected by gang activity makes me wonder, what can communities do to make their areas safer? The thought of a family feeling forced to choose between their adopted home and safety is heartbreaking. My thoughts are with the Kebbehs, and I hope that they find some semblance of peace and justice eventually.
