I'm always struck by the ripple effect that crimes like this have on the people left behind. Kenneth and Dorothy Neafus were clearly pillars of their community, and it sounds like they touched so many lives through their work and kindness. I can't help but think about the family member who discovered them—it must have been a traumatic experience that no one ever fully recovers from. It’s also unsettling to think about the breach of trust in such a close-knit community, where many probably felt safe leaving their doors unlocked because of the familiarity and mutual respect they shared. I hope the community can begin to heal and remember Kenneth and Dorothy for the joy and goodness they brought into the world, rather than just being defined by this tragic event.
