Has anyone else been thinking about the role of self-defense in this case? I mean, what a traumatic situation for everyone involved. Trying to protect your child must be one of the hardest instincts to grapple with when things turn violent.
But it makes me wonder how the jury decided on reckless homicide instead of something else. Clearly, they didn't see it as a calculated act, but it’s still so tragic that it ended in a life lost. I’m interested to see how they’ll handle Billy Joe Houchin’s sentencing. I can’t imagine the pain both families are going through right now. Just hoping there's a path to healing for them after all this. Anyone have thoughts on the self-defense angle?
