Hey everyone, I’ve been following the case of Darryl Lamont Lewis and just can't get over how senseless the violence was that night. It’s been on my mind a lot, especially considering how many people must have been affected by it in the Park Hill neighborhood. A thought crossed my mind about the witness who came forward after hearing Jermaine Williams confess to the shooting. That must have been an incredibly difficult thing to do, but it was so crucial for the case. I can't imagine the burden of holding onto that type of information and then making the brave decision to approach the police. The role of community members who step up in situations like these can’t be understated. Their courage truly makes a difference, not just in finding justice for Darryl, but in showing that violence doesn't have to silence us. My thoughts go out to Darryl's family and friends, who have had to endure this long process. I'm hoping this gives them some peace, but I know the void left by his absence will be a heavy load to carry. It's these real-life heroes in our neighborhoods who remind us that change and justice are possible, even in the toughest times.
