I've been thinking a lot about the sense of community and support that came together during Antwan's funeral at Consolidated Baptist Church. Even though I didn't know him personally, from everything I've read, it's clear that he was loved by so many. The turnout of family, friends, and community members paying their respects shows just how significant a presence he had in their lives. It's moments like this that remind me of how connected we all are, especially in times of tragedy.
I hope those who loved Antwan find some comfort in the shared memories and stories that were exchanged during the service. It's heartbreaking to think about the potential of a life cut so tragically short, but it warms my heart a bit to see the love and support surrounding his family now.
Hoping for some developments in the case soon, and sending love to everyone who is still mourning Antwan. If anyone has new information, let's do our part to make sure his memory gets the justice it deserves.
I've been thinking a lot about how this tragedy affected Antwan's classmates at Lafayette High. It must be incredibly tough for them to process the loss of a friend in such a violent and sudden way. I read that grief counselors were provided, but I wonder if that's truly enough. This was someone they saw almost every day, perhaps shared classes or ate lunch with. It's just so surreal to think he won't be returning to school with them. I hope the school is doing all they can to support these kids—not only now, but down the line. It's easy to feel forgotten after the initial shock subsides. Sending love to all the students who are navigating this difficult time. If anyone has any insight on how the school is coping, or encouraging ways they could be supported, I'd love to hear about it.
