Hey everyone,
I’ve been following the discussion about Devante Watts and wanted to draw attention to something that's been on my mind—the community's response in Roseland. It seems that whenever these tragedies happen, there's always a strong wave of support from neighbors and local groups who want to see change and prevent another young life from being taken. I've read about some vigils held in his memory and the efforts of local activists trying to engage the youth in more positive activities. This really shows that despite the harsh circumstances, there’s a lot of people who care and are willing to fight for their neighborhood’s future.
However, it’s frustrating to see these same initiatives struggle with funding or gaining enough momentum to make a lasting difference. It's hard not to feel helpless in the face of systemic issues—poverty, gangs, and lack of resources—which continue to plague areas like Roseland. It just makes Devante's case all the more heartbreaking. It’s clear we desperately need a holistic approach that involves both the authorities and the community to truly tackle the root causes of violence.
My thoughts are with Devante's family and all those who have lost loved ones under such tragic circumstances. We have to keep talking about this because their voices need to be heard. Hoping for better days and real change.
Take care,
