I've been following the Schmeck case and can't shake the feeling that the dynamics in that family were incredibly complex and tragic. It's hard to imagine the kind of pain Kurt and Justin's mother, Janet, must be going through. Losing one son is devastating enough, but to have another one imprisoned for that loss must be a living nightmare. Her testimonies during the trial paint a picture of constant conflict—yet it seems there was still an underlying hope that things would eventually get better between her sons. I truly hope she finds some peace amid such unimaginable circumstances. Has anyone heard if Janet has received any support or counseling since the trial? She could probably use a strong support system right now.
