Hi everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the aftermath and how the community responded to Daunte Wright’s tragic death. In particular, I've been struck by the intensity of the protests and demonstrations that unfolded in Brooklyn Center and other parts of the country. These widespread gatherings not only displayed the raw pain and frustration of the community but also reflected a deep-seated demand for change in the policing system. What stood out to me was how swiftly certain policy changes were enacted following the incident, especially around the use of Tasers and other policing tactics. The fact that it took such a tragic event to push these measures forward is deeply troubling, yet it highlights how critical public pressure can be in shaping systemic reform. I can't imagine how hard this has been for Daunte's family and friends, having to navigate their grief while becoming central figures in this national conversation. They’ve shown incredible strength amidst unimaginable circumstances. Here's hoping these policy changes create real, lasting impact, so that no other family has to endure such a tragedy in order to see reform. What do you all think of the steps that have been taken since then? Are they enough, or is there more that needs to be done? Would love to hear your thoughts. Stay safe, everybody.
