Hey everyone,
I've been reading about the tragic death of Coby R. Bridgmon, and something that's been on my mind is the role of community support in areas with high crime rates like Austin, Chicago. It’s so sad to think that something as ordinary as asking for a lighter could result in such a senseless loss of life. It really makes you wonder about the daily realities for people living in neighborhoods plagued by violence.
I’ve seen some successful examples of neighborhoods banding together to improve safety and support each other, but it seems like such initiatives have a tough time gaining traction in areas as challenged as Austin. I can only imagine how Coby's family must feel, losing a loved one in such a shocking way.
How do you all think communities can start to break the cycle of violence? Are there any programs out there that have shown promise or particular approaches that have worked elsewhere? It's crucial not only for the memory of Coby but for everyone living in similar environments that change happens. Let’s come together to brainstorm ideas on how communities and individuals can help make these areas safer.
Thanks for reading, and looking forward to your thoughts.
Take care,
