Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the townsfolk of Coffeyville and their sheer bravery during the Dalton Gang's attempted heist. It's truly something to imagine the courage it must've taken for ordinary people to come together and take down such a feared group. Their actions literally changed the course of events and stood as a testament against lawlessness at the time. But let's also not forget the heavy toll it took on the community. Four residents lost their lives that day—Lucius Baldwin, George Cubine, Charles Connelly, and Charles Brown. They paid the ultimate price protecting their town and deserve to be remembered for their sacrifices. It just makes the reality of those times hit much harder, when townsfolk could be thrust into such dangerous situations without a moment's notice. I’d love to hear if anyone has any more stories about these brave individuals or knows of any personal accounts from families that have been passed down about that day in Coffeyville. It's vital to keep their memories and stories alive, especially when they act with such valiance. Thanks for reading.
