I’ve been reading about the tragic case of Detective C. S. Calhoun, and it really makes me think about how brave and selfless law enforcement officers have to be. Imagine facing an armed confrontation without the modern equipment and forensics we have today—it’s terrifying. Detective Calhoun, assisting the city marshal on that fateful day, was only doing his duty to protect his community, and it cost him his life. Such a loss for the Calhoun family and the people of Cedar Vale who relied on him. It’s important to remember that behind the badge was a person who left loved ones behind. Sending thoughts to his family and all those affected even after all these years. Does anyone know if any memorial exists in Cedar Vale to honor Detective Calhoun’s sacrifice?
Has anyone looked into the background of the Cedar Vale city marshal who was with Detective Calhoun during the attempted arrest? I haven't come across much information about him, and I'm curious about his experience and role in the events leading up to the tragic shooting. It seems like a lot hinged on their actions that day, and understanding more about him might give us additional insights into the situation. Sending my thoughts to Detective Calhoun’s family and all the people affected by this loss. The courage shown by the law enforcement officers back then is truly commendable.
