Has anyone else been thinking about the impact on the families of those who commit crimes like this? Obviously, my heart goes out to Martin Carlos DeCasas' loved ones—what a terrible loss. But I also can’t stop considering what it's like for the families of the four young people involved. I mean, look at the ages of Danny, Ashley, Shaqwania, and Evian. Seeing your child go from being a teenager or young adult to being sentenced for such serious crimes must be incredibly difficult to process. I often wonder how these families cope and if they get any support during such a bewildering time. It’s so important that they find a way to heal too. The ripple effects of this tragedy spread so far beyond one moment of violence.
