I've been thinking a lot about the timeline that led up to Donna O'Neal's death and can't help but wonder about Robert Smith's actions leading up to that horrible day. What was going through his mind? Based on what we know, it seems like breaking into Donna's apartment was planned, but why Donna? The brutality of the crime is haunting, and it leaves me with so many questions about what could have been done to prevent this. Her family spent over six years waiting for justice, and I hope they find some comfort in knowing that Smith is finally behind bars. I can't even imagine the pain they've endured. Does anyone have more details on how the community reacted immediately after the incident? I'm curious how the neighborhood responded to such a violent event in their midst.

I’ve been following the tragic case of Donna O'Neal, and something that’s been on my mind is how the community around the Water’s Edge Apartments is holding up. It must be so unsettling living in a place marked by such a violent incident. I hope there are support systems in place for the residents. It's clear from everything I've read that the local police and investigators put in a tremendous amount of effort to bring Robert Smith to justice. Kudos to them for their relentless work. But when something this sad happens, it leaves a scar that’s not just personal but communal. I hope Wichita is coming together to heal and support one another—especially Donna’s family and friends who’ve been through so much. Does anyone know if there have been neighborhood initiatives or gatherings to help bring a sense of safety and community back to that area? My thoughts are with everyone involved.
