I still can't wrap my head around the tragic loss of little Mazey and her mom, Erin. It’s so devastating to think that Erin trusted enough to bring her sweet daughter to see her father, only for this nightmare to unfold. I’ve been thinking a lot about what Erin’s mom said about how Erin never believed Peter would hurt Mazey. It’s such a stark reminder of how deceptive emotional and mental abuse can be, without clear warnings until it's too late.
As a parent myself, it’s chilling to think about how Erin was probably doing what she thought was best by maintaining that connection between Mazey and her dad. It’s just such a senseless loss, and my heart goes out to Kim and the entire family having to face this unfathomable pain. I hope more awareness comes out of this tragic situation so that people in similar circumstances can find the support they need. If anything good can come from this, maybe it’s that. Sending love to the family and everyone affected by this terrible event.
I’ve been following the tragic case of Mazey and Erin Berg, and my heart goes out to everyone affected. I can’t imagine the devastation felt by their family and friends. It’s so difficult to comprehend how Sander’s mental and emotional abuse escalated to this point, and it makes me wonder how often incidents like this are brushed under the rug because there's no physical abuse. It's frightening to think about the power of manipulation and control in relationships.
I read that Erin and Mazey had been trying to move on with their lives in Maryville, and it breaks my heart that a child as young as Mazey had to be caught in such a tragic situation. This raises a lot of questions about what more can be done to protect victims, especially children, in situations where emotional abuse is prevalent but not often visible.
Sharing our thoughts here is one way to honor their memory, but I hope discussions like this can also lead to better protections and awareness. If anyone has resources or information on how to identify signs of emotional abuse that could escalate, please share. Maybe it can help someone else.
I can't even begin to imagine the pain that Erin's family and friends are going through right now. I’ve been thinking a lot about how Erin likely felt caught in such a difficult position. She opened her heart to love again with her new partner but still had to balance everything with Peter’s visitation rights with Mazey. It really hits me how, despite everything, she was trying to foster a relationship between Mazey and her father. Navigating that as a parent must have been incredibly tough, especially given Peter's history with emotional abuse.
It's so unsettling that often these kinds of control dynamics and emotional abuse get ignored because there's no physical violence. More awareness is definitely needed, and I hope anyone stuck in similar situations might find the support and courage to seek help. My thoughts are with Erin and Mazey's loved ones and the community dealing with the aftermath of this awful event.
