I can’t stop thinking about how incredibly tragic this situation is for the Burmese community in Phoenix. It was supposed to be a time to support each other and grieve a loss, and instead, they were met with such horrible violence. My heart goes out to the families and friends of Ker Reh and Kay Reh — I can’t imagine the pain they’re going through having lost their loved ones in such a senseless way. I'm also concerned about what this means for minority communities and how hate might still be rearing its ugly head. It’s encouraging to hear that the police are considering hate crime charges, but I hope it prompts deeper discussions about racism and hate, and sparks change so people from all backgrounds feel safe, especially during such vulnerable times. ❤️ Keeping an eye on this case and hoping justice will be served swiftly.
