Just thinking about how Rafael's murder is such a tragic reflection of the struggles faced by so many in Chicago back in 2013. It's tough to comprehend how families in neighborhoods like his were dealing with this constant threat of violence. I've read a bit about how those living in these areas had to find a way to maintain some semblance of normal life amidst all the chaos. It's devastating to consider that Rafael's family might have been trying to shield themselves from the violence, yet it still reached them so personally. For the communities that were bearing the brunt, the resilience required just to get by day-to-day must have been immense. I hope that his family has found some semblance of peace since his passing, even though that pain can never truly be erased.
