I’ve been following Miana Luckett’s case closely, and I just can’t get over how the justice system handled the plea deal with Ronnie Thorne. I understand that plea deals can help move cases along, but what message does it send to Miana’s family? They’ve already lost so much, and then to watch as her accused killer potentially spends less time behind bars than expected must be incredibly tough. I can't imagine the pain and frustration her father must have felt during the court hearing. It’s like their voices weren't being heard when asking for a stricter sentence. It makes me think about the broader issue of victim advocacy in these kinds of decisions. How can families feel like justice has been served if they’re not included in the process? Sending my deepest sympathies to Miana’s family and friends as they navigate this difficult time. I hope they’re able to find some measure of peace and continue to lean on each other for support.
