I went to high school with James, and hearing about his death has been really tough. He was always the guy you could depend on, always cracking a joke to lift everyone's spirits, even on the rough days. It's baffling to think that this was how his story ended. It's hit everyone pretty hard back home. The way our community's been rallying around his family right now is really touching – but still, there's this unsettling feeling of not knowing.
