Does anyone else feel deeply unsettled about how easily things escalated in the Michael Allen Cook case? It really makes you think about the ripple effect of violence and the unforeseen consequences that can come with it. Just imagining what Michael’s friends and family must be going through is incredibly painful. It’s mind-boggling that what started as a planned fistfight turned into something so tragic and irreversible. I wonder if there were any signs or moments leading up to the altercation where cooler heads could have prevailed. Such a terrible loss of a young life. Sending thoughts to everyone affected.

It still affects us to this day. Michael simply went with Marcel just in case something went wrong. Everything went wrong. Absolutely everything.

Marcel commited suicide the following year. He never could handle the guilt that he felt even though we told him many times that it was not his fault. The ripple affect to this even has been heart breaking.
