I’ve been following the Shaquille Slater case, and it’s just been a lot to take in. What’s really sticking with me is how tragedies like this underscore the struggles faced in Chicago's neighborhoods. It's a sad reminder of how quickly situations can escalate and end in such sorrowful ways. I can't help but think about how tough it must be for Shaquille's family and friends to process everything. The community was already dealing with waves of violence that summer, so I imagine there are many layers of grief and anger. And then there’s the concealed carry aspect; it just adds another level of complexity to the whole situation. It's easy to get caught up in blame and debate, but at the end of the day, a young life was lost. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this, and I hope, in some way, it sparks deeper conversations about safety and support in our communities.
