I've been trying to wrap my mind around the devastating loss of Adam Lara, and it's just so hard to grasp why this keeps happening. It's profoundly upsetting to think about a young life snatched away so suddenly. That day in July when Adam was shot and killed—my heart goes out to his family, especially his dad, who now carries the unimaginable burden of witnessing his son’s life cut short. It's hard not to feel a sense of urgency and frustration over the state of public safety, especially in areas like Hermosa. The community’s sense of normalcy shatters every time something like this happens. Lighting candles for Adam is a beautiful gesture, but it shouldn't have to come to that. It feels so important that we keep discussing how to protect our communities to stop these tragedies from repeating over and over again. Sending peace and strength to Adam’s family. ?

I’ve been thinking a lot about Adam Lara's case lately, and something that really stands out to me is how his father was involved in the local running community. It's incredibly moving to consider how much his father must have loved Adam, sharing such positive activities with him. The fact that they were doing something as simple as standing outside when the tragedy occurred is a harsh reminder of how unpredictable and cruel this world can be at times. It’s so unjust that their lives were shattered in such an instant. Adam was just a kid with so much ahead of him, and now his family has to navigate life without him. It’s truly haunting how a moment can change everything forever. To Adam’s family, I just want to say that your community feels your pain and remembers Adam dearly. It's my hope that justice is served and that changes are made to prevent more senseless tragedies like this.
