Does anyone else feel like Jerome's case highlights just how deep-rooted Chicago's issues are with youth violence? It's so frustrating and sad to think about how many families like Jerome's have been left grieving because of this ongoing crisis. I read somewhere that efforts were made to strengthen community ties and provide more support to at-risk kids after 2014, but stories like this make you wonder if it's been enough or if we're just missing something crucial. I can't help but feel for Jerome's family; losing such a young life to senseless violence is an unimaginable tragedy. How do we effectively address these systemic issues to prevent more heartbreak in our communities?
