I was thinking today about how much courage it must have taken for Sheri Aoyagi's friends and family to attend the trial and sentencing of Tyran Mollett. It's so unfathomably difficult to sit through details of something so tragic, and yet their presence in the courtroom was a powerful testament to Sheri's memory. They're shining examples of strength and love in the face of such tragedy. Being there to see justice served must have been a complex mix of emotions, knowing that nothing can truly bring Sheri back, but hoping for some semblance of closure. My heart goes out to all of them as they continue to cope with such an unimaginable loss. If anyone else has thoughts on how families find the strength to face courtroom proceedings, I'd be really interested to hear them.
