I’ve been thinking so much about Terry Cook’s case and the ripple effect his loss has had on the West Side community. It’s maddening to think about how many people are affected by these tragedies more than just the victim and their family. Each loss breaks apart a community little by little, you know? Friends, local business owners, neighbors—they all carry the weight of losing yet another person to this cycle of violence. It’s frustrating to see these stories repeat themselves when it feels like little is changing. Chicago needs real solutions, not just temporary fixes. I can't help but wonder what more could be done to provide these communities with hope and opportunities to thrive rather than suffer. My thoughts go out to Terry's family and everyone who knew him. Here's hoping for brighter days ahead for Chicago’s neighborhoods that have faced too much pain.
