I’ve been thinking a lot about the untold story behind Eddie Ramirez Sr.'s actions. Losing both Eddie Jr. and Sr. in such a tragic way has been incredibly difficult for the North Las Vegas community. It makes me wonder what might have been going on in Eddie Sr.’s mind leading up to that day. Mental health struggles can often be hidden, and I hope that in the future, we can become more attuned to spotting the signs in people we care about. There’s clearly a need for more open conversations and support networks to prevent these kinds of tragedies. My heart goes out to the extended family and friends who are left to try and make sense of their loss. If anyone has suggestions for how communities can better support mental health, I’d love to hear them.
