I've been following the John Spellman case, and something I can't shake is the involvement of "Kid Bosco," alias for Edward Carse. It's so unsettling that Carse was only 23 and already known to the police for frequenting saloons and arcades, yet he was out on the streets. Even more so, the fact that he allegedly bought a revolver just hours before the tragic event and sold it to Turner is incredibly disturbing.
It's hard not to wonder about the influences that led him down such a perilous path. What caught my attention is that Carse had managed to evade arrest before, even redeeming a pawned item to get a weapon, which says a lot about his cunning nature. I feel deeply for Patrolman Spellman's family—how tragic to lose someone to senseless street violence while they were just doing their job. It's heartbreaking to think about the officer’s bravery, facing those men alone to protect his community.
The part that really gets me is the breakdown of the justice system back then—Carse only served a few years before being paroled. I wonder how the community reacted when they heard about his early release. Was there a sense of injustice, or did they feel the punishment fit the crime? Thoughts, anyone?
hello everyone, i'm new to this case and was just reading about patrolman john spellman's murder back in 1906. something that caught my attention was the involvement of that guy west. i mean, he was released pretty quickly after the other two were arrested, which makes me wonder about his actual role in all this. was he just at the wrong place at the wrong time? or could there have been more to his release than we know? i can't imagine being part of something so tragic and then having my name cleared in such a public way. it's frustrating knowing how these cases can sometimes have layers that aren't fully uncovered. anyone else have thoughts or more info on west's involvement or how things like this typically play out in such old cases? thinking of spellman and his family during this tough time.
