Hey everyone,
I've been following the Spangler case and something that's been gnawing at me is how easily Robert was able to manipulate perceptions and avoid suspicion for so long. The fact that he managed to stage the scene at the Spangler home to look like a murder-suicide is chilling. I keep thinking about how those initial investigations failed Nancy and her kids. It terrifies me to think how quick judgments were made about Nancy without looking deeper into Robert's inconsistent stories and the physical evidence like the gunshot residue on his hand. It seems clear now that he had been planning this for a long time, thinking he could get away with it. I can't imagine the pain their loved ones must feel, re-experiencing their loss with the new revelations. In cases like these, it seems so important to always keep an open mind and question initial findings, doesn't it?
What are your thoughts on how investigators can avoid missing these red flags in similar cases?
