I’ve been thinking a lot about how music played such an important part in AJ Boik's life. It’s truly touching to hear that he was the first-chair viola at Gateway High School. A friend of mine who went to school with AJ told me how his performances always brought a certain kind of magic to school concerts. It’s so sad to think of such a bright future cut short, especially since he had dreams of pursuing art further at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design. I can’t even imagine the void left behind not just in his family but also among his classmates who shared the stage with him. Has anyone been involved in any community orchestras or music programs that are set up in remembrance of those lost that day? Music seemed to be such a huge part of AJ’s identity and it feels like a fitting way to keep his spirit alive.

I recently came across the story of "AJ’s Haze," the memorial beer brewed in AJ Boik’s honor, and it hit me hard just thinking about the ways families find to keep the memory of their loved ones alive. It's a unique tribute, and such a poignant way to celebrate AJ’s life and passions. Brewing a special beer not only honors his memory but also supports a larger cause through the 7/20 Foundation. It really shows the incredible strength and resilience of AJ’s family and friends in the face of such an unimaginable loss. They’ve turned their grief into outreach, helping others who have endured similar sorrows, all while keeping AJ’s spirit alive in the community. I never met AJ, but hearing about the impact he made in his short life makes it clear he was deeply loved and valued. Isn't it beautiful how something like a small brew, tied to fundraising for important causes, embodies both remembrance and community healing? It gives people a chance to come together, share stories, and ensure AJ's legacy continues to inspire and help others. If you've had the opportunity to try "AJ's Haze," I’d love to hear your thoughts on it or any significant experiences you’ve had connecting with the ways we keep memories alive.

I was reading about AJ Boik and just can't stop thinking about the heartbreaking experience his girlfriend must have gone through. She was there with him at the theater, just a normal date night, and suddenly everything turned into a nightmare. I can't even begin to imagine the trauma of being there and then losing someone you love in such a violent way. I read that she tried to help him amid the chaos—covered in his blood but doing all she could. It's incredibly courageous and tragic at the same time. People often don't consider how these senseless acts impact the survivors, especially those so close to the victims. My heart goes out to her and all of AJ's family and friends who have had to navigate such deep loss and trauma. For those that knew AJ, wearing purple to his funeral and creating tributes like AJ’s Haze seem like beautiful ways to keep his spirit alive. Sending strength and love to everyone affected; it’s the community’s support and remembering the joyful times that seem to help carry people through such painful moments.
