I've been doing some reading about the Aurora theater shooting and came across something that really stuck with me about Alex Teves. It’s known that he was an exceptional person, but something that didn’t get much focus, at least in the mainstream, is his deep commitment to helping troubled youth. I wonder about those kids he helped—how many lives did he impact before he was taken away too soon?
I can't help but think about the ripple effects of losing someone like Alex. He wasn't just another victim; he was a beacon of hope for young people struggling to find their way. His career choice and passion for counseling speak volumes of his character and dedication to making the world a better place. It's humbling to think about the legacy he left behind, not just through his family’s foundation but also through the lives he touched directly.
My heart goes out to his family and all the people whose lives were changed for the better because of him. I hope they find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the positive impact he made. If only the media talked more about heroes like Alex rather than giving airtime to the perpetrators of such violence. His story deserves to be at the forefront.
Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about Amanda, Alex's girlfriend, and how incredibly strong she must be. It's unimaginable to think about what she went through that night at the theater and in the days after. From what I understand, Alex's last act was to protect her, which speaks volumes about who he was—not just a guy, but a genuine hero. It must have been immensely difficult for her to initially confront what had happened, especially as she called Alex's parents with such devastating news.
Her perspective is often overlooked when discussing the case, but she has been through a tremendous loss and experienced a kind of trauma that nobody should have to endure. I hope she's surrounded by love and support. It's important to remember the people who survive these tragedies, as they face an incredibly tough journey of healing.
Sending thoughts and strength to Amanda and all who cared about Alex.

Hey everyone,
I've been reading more about the aftermath of the Aurora theater shooting, and it struck me just how often the focus still seems to be on the perpetrator rather than the victims. I can't even begin to imagine what the families have been through, especially Alex Teves's family. It must be so frustrating and painful for them. Alex's father, Tom Teves, has been vocal about this issue, campaigning for media to stop giving so much attention to shooters. I think it's important to remember and honor Alex for who he was in life, rather than letting the narrative be dominated by the person who took him away. It’s inspiring to see the work being done in Alex’s name through the ACT Foundation and all the positive change it's driving. Hoping more people join in and support this cause—sharing stories of victims and their legacies instead of the violence that ended their lives. Thoughts?
