I've been following the tragic events in Haines closely and my thoughts are with everyone affected, especially the families of David Simmons and Jenae Larson. Something that struck me was how the community has really banded together during this time. It’s inspiring to see so many locals offering support and resources, even with the dire situation. The landslide itself sounds terrifying, and I can only imagine how hard it is for loved ones to not have closure yet. The weather conditions must be beyond frustrating for the search teams. Does anyone know if there's a safe way for volunteers to assist, or if there's a fund set up to support those who've been displaced? The resilience of the Haines community is something to be admired. Stay safe, everyone.

I've been thinking a lot about how the search efforts were impacted by the horrible weather conditions. It just seems so tragic that the elements can be so unforgiving. I understand they had helicopters doing aerial searches, but does anyone else wonder if maybe drone technology could be more extensively used in these situations? I've read that drones can sometimes get into tighter spots or fly in weather that keeps helicopters grounded. Maybe there's a way to advocate for more resources like this in future searches. Would love to hear thoughts from anyone who has experience or knowledge about this kind of technology and its potential benefits in rescue operations. It's so tough knowing that having just a little more access could have made a difference.
