Joseph Barry Leach was 24 when he disappeared after boarding a Greyhound bus on April 1, 1976, at Fort Bragg, California, bound for his Los Angeles residence. He arrived in the city but never returned to his apartment; his landlady reported that none of his belongings were taken.

Leach was described as 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 130 to 150 pounds, with red or auburn hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a button-down shirt and prescription plastic eyeglasses. Very few details are available about what happened after the bus trip, and the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office continues to list the case as open.
